Waymo's Systems Engineering team works together to blend software and hardware systems in groundbreaking new ways. The SysEng Commercialization team is responsible for ensuring that our depot operations scale efficiently and reliably. We develop requirements, test infrastructure, and diagnostic pipelines required to keep fleets moving and quickly unblock issues as they emerge in real-time.

You will:

Design, implement, and optimize low-latency data pipelines using C++ and SQL to ingest and structure realtime depot telemetry.

Develop a modern, responsive frontend dashboard that visualizes operations data, prioritizing a seamless user experience for operations staff.

Collaborate directly with triage engineers and ops staff to gather requirements, iterate on designs, and ensure the tool meets ground-level situational awareness needs.

Write robust, maintainable code with a strong emphasis on test-driven development, integration testing, and team code reviews

You have:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree.

Data Architecture & Processing: Demonstrated capability in conceptualizing and writing efficient data transformation pipelines (C++/SQL).

Full-Stack & UI Implementation: Experience converting backend data streams into actionable, user-centric visualizations.

Testing Rigor: Strong grasp of integration testing and ensuring reliability in critical systems.

We prefer:

Experience or coursework related to data streaming, distributed systems, or low-latency data processing.

Familiarity with UI/UX principles centered around data visualization and operational oversight.

Prior experience working closely with end-users to collect requirements and iterate on product features.

The expected hourly rate for this full-time position is listed below. Interns are also eligible to participate in the Company’s generous benefits programs, subject to eligibility requirements.

Hourly Bachelors Pay

$60 — $60 USD
