Summary
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Aviation Logistics Division (ALD), Fiscal Operations Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to perform work in the accounting and technical part of accounting systems, policies, and procedures in such areas as accounts examination, verification, and maintenance of accounts and accounting data. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Using applied formulas to test and evaluate detailed and summary accounts for equality and accuracy. Training other accounting technicians with follow-up techniques used to correct and process work into the system. Reviewing efficiency of clerical/technical process and compliance with procedures and making recommendations for improvement. Reviewing unique or complex problems encountered by self or other technicians in reconciling accounts. Preparing drafts of memorandum or letters responding to inquiries. Reviewing complex and unusual documents to verify accounting data and mathematical accuracy. Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Experience auditing, reviewing, and verifying complex financial documents (such as invoices, billing statements, or payment requests). Experience performing detailed reconciliation of complex general ledger and subsidiary accounts, researching historical transactions, and resolving billing discrepancies or unmatched records. Experience entering, analyzing, and correcting financial data within automated accounting systems, identifying processing errors, and recommending workflow or operational improvements. Experience conducting research into non-routine financial inquiries, preparing written explanations to resolve billing disputes with vendors or clients, and providing guidance on proper accounting procedures. This position does not have a positive education requirement. College Transcript: If this position requires specific educational course work to qualify, or you are qualifying based in whole or part on education, you are required to provide all unofficial transcripts (undergraduate, graduate, etc.) by the closing date of this announcement or you will be disqualified from further consideration. Transcripts should be legible and detailed, showing course number and department (i.e., bio 101, math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours, and grade earned. If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken.
