Job Title: Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist Banding: Band 6 Location: London Base: St Thomas’ Hospital Start Date: ASAP Rate: £24.00–£30.00 per hour Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join an Adult Acute Inpatient service based at St Thomas’ Hospital in London . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced therapist looking to further develop their clinical skills within a fast-paced acute hospital environment.

You will work with adults presenting with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care across acute inpatient wards. The role offers exposure to complex caseloads and the opportunity to work as part of a supportive, well-established multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders within an acute inpatient setting.

Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs.

Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and therapy colleagues as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.

Participate in service development, audits, and clinical meetings as required.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Previous experience working with adult acute or inpatient caseloads.

Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills.

The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
