Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer - Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Trainer with the coordination and administration of the athletic training program in a manner that provides for competent and complete medical care for all student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics under the direction of the team physician and the athletic director.

Summary of Responsibilities

• •Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes.
• •Administer first aid to injured athletes and apply protective devices such as taping, bandaging, or bracing.
• •Assists Head Athletic Trainer and team physician(s) in determining whether an athlete is fit for participation in an athletic function.
• •Assists in the administration of the program, athletic pre-participation physicals, echocardiograms, and drug-testing programs.
• •Work cooperatively with, and under, the direction of the team physician in respect to the operation of the therapeutic devices and equipment, fitting of braces, guards, or other devices, referrals to physicians, health service, or hospital.
• •Coordinate and submit Olympic sport spreadsheets of completion to Compliance Office and coordinator dates and times with coaches and Boca Raton Regional Hospital for Olympic Sport pre-participation physicals.
• •Work as an Insurance Liaison with Student Health Services in arranging care for domestic student-athletes and work with outside insurance group, Insurance for Students, and the office of International Student and Scholar Services to make sure we are compliant with University protocol for international students.
• •Referral and documentation/billing updates for student-athletes by Student Health Center Liaison.
• •Oversee annual budget development with the business office, evaluate new athletic training products with the Head Athletic Trainer throughout the fiscal year, and delegate/oversee inventory with assistant athletic trainers for Budget/Inventory.
• •Any other job-related duty that may be initiated as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the appropriate area of specialization and three years of related experience required.

Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience.

Must possess or be able to obtain the National Athletic Trainer Associate Certificate.

Salary:

$50,000 - $70,000 annually.
