Athletics Communications Manager
Job Summary:
The UW Brand Communications department is seeking an Assistant Director of Brand Communications to join our team and be a central piece of the brand storytelling for Wisconsin Athletics and its teams. This position will serve as the primary communications contact for our women’s basketball program in addition to other sports as assigned. Looking for a highly motivated individual to creatively plan, implement and supervise our communication strategy, represent sports programs at events and serve as liaison between departments to promote athletic program and institutional communication goals. May supervise personnel with a work unit communications team.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Assists in development of all strategic communication initiatives
Identifies and monitors all media relations, publicity, and player promotion requirements
Edits and distributes athletic communication materials for internal and external audiences
Manages communication of athletic statistics and record keeping

Compensation:
The minimum salary is $67,412, depending on qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of experience in sports marketing, communications, or a related field at the collegiate or professional level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to creatively tell stories about student-athletes, coaches and teams using various communications methods including social media, graphic design, video and written content
- Experience working with local and national media
- Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe software
- Experience with photography and basic photo editing
- Ability to work with students, coaches and administrators in a broad range of situations
- Willingness and ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines and experience working in an atmosphere of NCAA compliance
- Ability to develop and implement innovative approaches and solutions
- Work well independently and in teams
- Flexible in accepting new responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree required

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
