Job Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for assisting with the efficient and safe operation of the Canadian Hills Wind Project, a 132-turbine, 292 MW wind facility located in Calumet, Oklahoma. This role supports day-to-day operations, maintenance, fiscal accountability, contractor oversight, and administrative functions in alignment with Longroad’s corporate strategies and objectives. Key focus areas include safety leadership, turbine availability, cost control, regulatory compliance, and stewardship of site personnel, contractors, equipment, landowner relationships, and community stakeholders. The position is based at the Canadian Hills Wind Project and requires travel as needed to support business and operational needs.

Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

• •Assist in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of 73 2.05MW Senvion wind turbines and 59 2.4MW MHI turbines.
• •Support all Operations and Maintenance activities for the wind power generating facility, including but not limited to substation and high-voltage work, collection system equipment, balance-of-plant activities, and wind turbine generator (WTG) units.
• •Perform routine site and equipment inspections, document findings, and coordinate repairs through the work order management system to maintain equipment reliability and performance.
• •Develop and support cost-effective programs and initiatives that improve operations, maintenance, reliability, turbine availability, and overall site performance.

Site Leadership, Safety & Contractor Management

• •Support safe and reliable wind farm operations, including oversight of site personnel and contractors, and assist with the development and implementation of site procedures and policies.
• •Lead and direct on-site contractors and ensure work is performed in accordance with Longroad's safety, operational, and performance expectations.
• •Lead by example to ensure compliance with Longroad's processes, procedures, policies, and Code of Conduct.
• •Serve as the Operations Manager's designated backup during periods of absence, assuming responsibility for day-to-day site operations, safety oversight, contractor direction, and operational decision-making to ensure continuity of the facility.

Financial, Contract & Regulatory Management

• •Support the development, monitoring, and management of the site's operating budget and forecasts, including tracking expenditures, identifying variances, and supporting cost-control initiatives.
• •Manage site contracts and warranties in accordance with Longroad's standards and business interests.
• •Support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements, including environmental and NERC/FERC requirements.

Stakeholder Management & General Responsibilities

• •Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local utilities, regulatory agencies, local government and community representatives, landowners, and other site stakeholders.
• •Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to support site operational priorities and resolve issues as needed.
• •Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager or other leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• •At least three years of experience in operations and maintenance of a wind or energy facility.
• •At least one year of supervisory experience.
• •Experience supporting budgets, cost control, and project or work-order management.
• •Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• •Ability to work at heights and able to perform the essential physical functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including climbing 300-foot wind turbines, lifting 50 lbs. overhead, and meeting the safety-gear weight requirement of 310 lbs. or less.
• •Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize work in a dynamic operating environment.
• •Proficient computer and software skills, with an emphasis on office applications.
• •Valid driver’s license.
• •24/7 on-call availability.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

• •Technical 2-4 year college degree or comparable certifications.
• •Experience with wind turbine operations, substation or high-voltage systems, balance-of-plant work, NERC/FERC compliance, and OEM warranty administration.
• •Experience leading cross-functional initiatives focused on safety, reliability, availability, cost control, or operational performance improvement.
• •Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work-order systems is strongly preferred.
