POSITION SPECIFICS

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg's School of Business Administration invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Finance for its AACSB-accredited program to start in Fall 2027. The job duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advising students, conducting high-quality research, and performing service assignments.

Job Responsibilities:

Teaching courses in Investments, Derivative Securities, Corporate Finance, and related areas with an emphasis on applied portfolio management and empirical data analysis.

Teaching may include secondary fields such as Risk Management, Fixed Income Securities, Financial Decision Making, or other areas of quantitative finance involving econometrics and business analytics applications.

Faculty are expected to maintain a high level of professional activity through scholarly publication and service.

Engaging with the campus Financial Trading Room and Bloomberg Terminals to facilitate experiential learning and applied market simulations.

Providing active mentorship for student organizations, such as the Finance Club, and overseeing student-managed investment practicums.

  • Minimum Requirements:
  • Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Finance or a closely related field with an emphasis on Finance. The doctoral degree must be conferred prior to the start of the appointment.
  • Preferred Requirements:
  • Teaching experience in higher education is highly desirable. Research and teaching interests aligned with empirical asset pricing, market microstructure, fixed income, or applied portfolio management. Demonstrated proficiency with Bloomberg Terminals and experience integrating financial databases into classroom instruction. Experience or strong interest in advising student-managed investment funds or finance-focused student organizations.
