As an Assistant Vice President, Regulatory Reporting based in Hong Kong, you will be entrusted with preparing critical HKMA banking returns and other regulatory reports that underpin the institution’s compliance framework. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve analysing complex datasets for accuracy and completeness while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including business operations, risk management, technology specialists, and audit professionals. You will monitor evolving regulations within the Hong Kong banking sector—assessing their impact on existing processes—and help implement necessary changes efficiently. You will also play a key part in responding to audit requests and management queries by providing reliable information promptly.

Prepare assigned HKMA banking returns, surveys, and other regulatory reports with meticulous attention to accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Perform thorough analysis and reconciliation of regulatory data and supporting information; identify anomalies, data-quality issues, and reporting exceptions; coordinate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of identified issues.

Monitor changes in the regulatory landscape, interpret their impact on reporting requirements, processes, and controls; support implementation of required changes in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Develop and maintain robust regulatory-reporting policies, procedures, controls, and process documentation that ensure consistency and compliance across all reporting activities.

Coordinate effectively with business units, operations teams, risk management functions, technology departments, and other support areas to address regulatory-reporting requirements and resolve any issues that arise.

Support regulatory enquiries as well as internal and external audits by providing accurate information and documentation related to regulatory reporting.

Respond promptly to management information requests relating to regulatory reporting by compiling relevant data and insights.

Participate actively in testing, implementation, and post-implementation monitoring of new or amended regulatory requirements and reporting solutions.

Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve reporting processes, enhance operational efficiency; support their implementation through collaborative efforts with colleagues.

Contribute positively to a communal environment by sharing knowledge and best practices regarding regulatory reporting.

Job Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of experience in banking regulatory reporting within Hong Kong is essential for this role as it ensures familiarity with local compliance standards.

A strong understanding of Hong Kong banking regulatory requirements enables you to interpret complex rules accurately and apply them effectively in daily tasks.

Advanced proficiency in Excel allows you to manage large datasets efficiently while performing detailed analyses required for high-quality reporting.

Strong analytical skills empower you to identify anomalies or inconsistencies within data sets quickly so that corrective actions can be taken collaboratively.

Excellent problem-solving abilities help you navigate challenges related to data quality or process improvements by working together with stakeholders.

Exceptional attention to detail ensures that all reports submitted are accurate, complete, timely—and compliant with applicable regulations.

Effective communication skills

Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders—including business units, risk management teams, technology departments

Proven track record of developing policies or procedures related to regulatory reporting shows your commitment towards maintaining high standards of compliance.

Ability to participate constructively in testing new systems or adapting existing ones highlights your enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
