Duties

• •Manages and operates the Automotive Crafts Facility as a revenue-generating, fee-for-service repair operation alongside its self-help hobby shop function, in coordination with the Skills Center.
• •Works independently under general direction to apply sound business practices: pricing, cost control, revenue tracking, and growth of the paid-service program.
• •Provides technical instruction and hands-on repair services to patrons, demonstrating proper techniques and safe use of lifts, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• •Personally performs paid repair and maintenance services, such as oil changes and basic repairs, on a fee basis.
• •Performs and oversees maintenance and repair of the MWR NAF vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles meet safety and operational standards, maintaining service records, and coordinating major repairs with outside vendors as needed.
• •Maintains accountability of tools, materials, and financial resources, including inventory control, budget estimates for APF/NAF funding, monitoring expenditures and fee revenue, and procurement documentation.
• •Oversees patrons and employees while ensuring customer service excellence and monitoring safety compliance. Directs and trains assigned staff.
• •Serves as the primary point of contact for patrons, resolving issues, processing work orders and fees, and managing scheduling.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Demonstrated work experience that include the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work of the position to be filled. Possess specialized knowledge of automotive mechanical systems, to include repair and maintenance. Work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" and will be referred to the hiring official first: Do you have an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or equivalent formal automotive training? NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents.
