0111 Float Pool Day shift. 24 hours weekly. 6:00a-6:15p.

Under the direction and supervision of the RN, the Behavioral Health Safety Technician (BHST) is an NCA responsible to provide daily services involving basic care for patients, answering the telephone and intercom, provides 1:1 supervision for patients with high risk of assaultive/aggressive/suicidal behaviors, performing a variety of clerical duties and clinical tasks as well as other assigned unit duties. The Behavioral Health Safety Technician (BHST) is also responsible for following the individual treatment plan and program rules in the provision of care. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.

• •Uses computer and software programs with proficiency
• •Uses accurate medical terminology.
• •Follows Code Procedures.
• •Properly operates unit communication equipment.
• •Calls staff as directed.
• •Transports patients.
• •Initiates and maintains records and reports.
• •Organizes and maintains medical record in accordance with universal chart order, thins charts and prepares discharged medical record for timely pickup.
• •Initiates work orders.
• •Post reports on charts.
• •Strict adherence to Infection Control Policy with specific emphasis on hand hygiene. Coordinates care with other disciplines.
• •Uses appropriate resources – Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, Directors, Administrative Coordinator, Pharmacy, etc.
• •Demonstrates good time management by having no unjustified overtime.
• •Informs supervisor when hours worked may accrue overtime and incidental overtime. Compliant with attendance policy.

Education and Experience

Minimum education required : High school diploma, or equivalent.

Minimum experience preferred: 1 year experience in an acute or long-term health care setting.

Licensure and Certification : BLS
