Located less than an hour from Hamburg, our Lübeck site serves as our EMEA Customer Interaction and Collaboration Center. It features expanded laboratory and pilot facilities, as well as analytical and sensory capabilities. Additionally, the site includes an on-site training center and meeting rooms designed to welcome and support our customers.

The technical community in Lübeck is a multicultural team of passionate food technologists hailing from various geographies. For our Lübeck site in Germany we are searching for a:

Beverage Scientist

As a Beverage scientist, you will be instrumental in driving technical sales initiatives across Europe. Your primary focus will be on managing lab activities to support customer interactions and deliver customized technical solutions.

By acting as a technical advisor, you will address complex client needs and provide innovative solutions that align with Tate & Lyle’s mission to advance sustainable, health-focused products in the areas of Sweetening, Mouthfeel, and Fortification. Collaborating closely with Sales and Marketing teams, you will develop compelling value propositions to expand the opportunity pipeline, increase win rates, and support the achievement of regional profit targets. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying growth opportunities, supporting product customization, and building trusted partnerships with customers. This role demands a proactive approach to fostering high performance within the Technical Sales function and promoting strong cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Subject Matter Expertise: as a beverage expert, you will :

Support customer projects in the lab, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.

Assist in developing and deploying EMEA Growth Initiatives, generating ideas and new concepts and managing projects accordingly.

Enhance technical capabilities within the team by identifying gaps, improving processes, and fostering collaboration.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work with Sales, marketing and R&D teams to create tailored product solutions.

Share market insights to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

Present technical insights to clients, highlighting solution benefits and addressing concerns.

Customer Management: for your portfolio of customers, you will

Provide technical sales support, including solution recommendations and troubleshooting.

Implement the regional Technical Sales strategy to grow revenue and strengthen the opportunity pipeline.

Partner with Sales Account Managers to build strong customer relationships and execute growth plans.

Manage your opportunity pipeline, prioritize support across accounts, and ensure timely delivery of projects.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, promoting a safe workplace.

This role requires agility, accountability, and the ability to adapt to diverse customer needs and regulatory environments while maintaining high standards of quality and execution.

Your skills and experience

A master’s degree in food science or related field

A minimum of 3-5 years in Beverage formulation

Knowledge of beverage formulation, emulsions, sweeteners, and functional ingredients is critical

Knowledge of end-product analysis - including rheology

Customer focused and solution oriented in approach

Strong organizational and communication skills

Pragmatic, analytical approach, ability to manage several projects and to adapt to changing business requirements

Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently

Fluency in English, written and spoken, and one other European language is essential

Experience of working with strict health and safety protocols in a laboratory environment is essential
