ABM’s Re-Entry Program provides job placement and essential support services for offenders being released to Hillsborough, Polk, and Pasco counties or ex-offenders referred to Abe Brown Ministries.
Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the financial records of the organization, including tracking income and expenditures, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with legal requirements and supports the financial integrity of Abe Brown Ministries. The Bookkeeper works closely with the Director of Operations and Fund Development to maintain up-to-date financial information for strategic decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Manages accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
· Records and reconciles daily financial transactions, including income, expenses, and donations.
· Maintains accurate records in QuickBooks and other financial software.
· Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
· Reconciles bank statements and investigate discrepancies in financial records.
· Assists with budgeting and forecasting by providing financial data and analysis.
· Coordinates with external auditors during annual audits and provides necessary documentation.
· Ensures compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
· Assists in the preparation of grant reports and other funding-related financial documentation.
· Supports the Director of Operations in monitoring program budgets and financial resources.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements:
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
· Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and financial databases.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience working in the nonprofit sector is a plus.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
· Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
Education & Experience:
· Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
· Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.
· Must have good vision
· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
· Work is generally performed within the office environment, with standard office equipment available.
