Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Serves as IRS' expert in best practices for Braille production. Develops guidelines, procedures, and practices to ensure consistency and quality in the production and delivery of Braille products by contractors and the AMC production facility. Develops technical specifications, standards and contract task orders for Braille transcription. Leads AMC efforts to analyze Braille product quality and delivery performance by contractors. Serves as expert in the field of electronic conversion of printed materials into Braille, stays abreast of the latest technology changes, including techniques used by industry, and represents IRS on government-wide studies and projects relating to such

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or through Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7 Level: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Assisting others by applying laws, standards, policies, or guidelines related accessibility services for individuals with disabilities; Preparing, converting, or distributing information in alternative media or accessible formats; Using office automation software or assistive technology to prepare documents or provide accessibility services; communicating orally and in writing with customers, employees, or stakeholders; OR One year of graduate level education at an accredited college or university in a related field of study that demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may be met by having a Bachelor's degree, with one of the following: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last two years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last two years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. In order to be creditable under this provision, superior academic achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. AND You must also meet the following requirements: MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age for federal employment is 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and have: Graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or Completed a formal vocational training program; or Received a statement from school authorities agreeing with your preference for employment rather than continuing your education. Education

A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
