About the role:

At Back Market, Business Development Managers are pivotal to our marketplace’s success. You will be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing Supply team, and will act as the go-to resource for our valued sellers. You will be able to contribute to the overall business by enabling and supporting the growth and retention of key sellers.

In this role, your main priorities center on harmonizing the two most critical areas of performance on Back Market: Business Development and Account Management.

On the Business Development side, you will work closely with the General Manager on supporting the strategic plan for the business development, actively looking for potential sellers, and onboard them to the Back Market platform.

On the Account Management side, you will work with the existing sellers to grow their sales by skilfully identifying opportunities to grow and diversify listings, procure supply, improve pricing strategy, capitalize on product/category trends, etc.

Your Mission (If You Accept It):

Contribute to Back Market’s sellers and item/categories offering growth by developing and implementing go to market strategy to acquire and nurturing new sellers

Build relationships with key sellers to ensure high levels of adoption, commitment, and satisfaction

Analyze sales and quality performance and identify areas for growth to ensure a profitable and healthy growth for both seller and BackMarket, using data and tools available including AI

Conduct strategy calls, business reviews, seller/partner visits tailored to use cases and business models

Develop potential partnership with industry key players, service providers, affiliates in refurbished, electronics, and e-commerce landscape in Japan

Gain subject-matter expertise on the refurbished devices industry, as well as the specific needs, pain points, and aims of sellers

Lead and contribute to seller-related cross-functional projects together with customer care, quality, marketing, and product teams

You’re At The Right Place If:

5~7 years of experience in sales, business development and account management roles

Proven track record in acquiring sellers or partners

Demonstrated ability to resolve issues and maintain strong client relationships

Proven project management experience, able to coordinate between teams. Ability to navigate seamlessly across time zones and multicultural teams

Excellence in time management and pipeline management with great sense of priority, urgency, ownership and accountability

AI and data skills, with hands-on experience building automations is a bonus. Salesforce, SQL, Tableau and/or AI tools experience is a plus, but readiness to learn a must

Previous experience in an E-commerce or fast-growing start up preferred (not mandatory)

Native Japanese with business level of English communications skills, both in writing and speaking. Chinese skill is also appreciated (not mandatory)

High interpersonal skill, and strong understanding of Japanese culture & cross-culture

Ability to handle the pace and ambiguity that comes with working in a fast-paced, always-on, start-up environment across multiple time zones and teams

Proactive and energetic attitude with the desire to be a key player on a results-oriented team in a fast-paced work environment
