Job Summary

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving new business opportunities by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective healthcare clients within the permanent physician/APP recruitment market . This hybrid role requires an onsite presence two days per week and focuses on generating demand, cultivating client relationships, supporting physician placement growth, and expanding market share. The Business Development Specialist serves as a strategic first point of contact, scheduling meetings, creating opportunities that drive new client acquisition and support the continued growth of AMN's permanent physician/APP solutions business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of performance in achieving outreach, lead generation, appointment-setting, and business development goals.
  • Research, identify, and engage prospective hospitals, health systems, physician groups, medical practices, and other healthcare organizations through outbound calling, email campaigns, referrals, networking efforts, and market intelligence.
  • Support the cultivation of strategic new client relationships by providing timely, responsive, and high-quality service to prospective and existing clients.
  • Maintain accurate prospect and client information within Salesforce, ensuring data integrity and pipeline visibility.
  • Facilitate introductions and handoffs between qualified prospects and designated business development leaders.
  • Assist in identifying target organizations and growth opportunities that increase revenue potential and expand service line adoption.
  • Become knowledgeable about AMN's physician recruitment and placement solutions and provide support across client accounts as needed.
  • Assist in managing the sales pipeline to ensure adequate business development activity and future placement opportunities.
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand physician recruitment challenges, provider workforce needs, succession planning initiatives, and organizational growth strategies.
  • Educate prospective clients on AMN's permanent physician recruitment solutions and articulate how services align with their long-term provider workforce goals.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and connect prospects with appropriate AMN service lines when applicable.
  • Monitor physician recruiting trends, healthcare workforce shortages, provider demand, and competitive market activity to identify new business opportunities.

Qualifications

Education & Years of Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED plus 2-5 years of sales, business development, physician recruitment, healthcare staffing, or other client-facing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Additional Experience

  • Experience with outbound prospecting, cold calling, lead qualification, and appointment setting.
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms such as Salesforce to manage sales activities and pipeline.
  • Experience within permanent physician placement, locum tenens staffing, physician recruitment, healthcare staffing, provider workforce solutions, or healthcare talent acquisition.
  • Knowledge of physician recruitment strategies, permanent placement models, locum tenens workforce solutions, provider workforce challenges, healthcare hiring trends, and client engagement within hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and medical practices.
  • Experience engaging and influencing physician leaders, hospital executives, HR leaders, directors, VPs, and C-suite decision-makers.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding activity, lead generation, and business development metrics.
  • Experience supporting business development initiatives and generating qualified sales opportunities.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.

Pay Rate

$58,000 - $72,000 Salary Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
