As a Business Experience & Planning Expert within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or New York.
- About the Role
- Technology's value to a bank is measured by how well it serves the business and its customers. We are looking for a strategic leader to help define how our technology organization operates, partners, and delivers, so that it becomes a clear competitive advantage for the bank. Based in the COO organization of the Chief Technology Office, this Director will have enterprise reach. They will work across Technology and with every line of business to shape a shared strategy, close the distance between technology and business priorities, and build a world-class organization that delivers measurable business outcomes. Those outcomes should show up in the market, not just on internal scorecards. This role is built for a leader whose strength is people, influence, and change. They will bring together executives with competing priorities, build lasting relationships with business partners, and turn strategy into execution across a large, complex organization. Deep technical expertise is not the focus. The ability to lead transformation across organizational lines is.
- What You'll Do
- Shape Enterprise Technology Strategy
- Partner with the COO, CTO, and technology leadership to define and advance a strategy that spans all of Technology, not a single organization.
- Bring the voice of the business into technology strategy, so priorities, investments, and roadmaps reflect what drives growth, customer experience, and competitive position.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, and improve efficiency across Technology, and turn them into executable programs with clear business value. Build Business Partnerships Across Every Line of Business
- Develop trusted, executive-level relationships with line-of-business leaders, becoming a connector between business strategy and technology execution.
- Create partnership models and engagement mechanisms that give the business a meaningful role in shaping how Technology prioritizes and delivers.
- Translate business goals into technology outcomes and communicate technology's contribution in business terms. Lead Enterprise Strategy and Delivery
- Design and drive a best-in-class operating model for how Technology plans, prioritizes, delivers, and measures work across the enterprise.
- Lead large-scale organizational change end to end, including stakeholder alignment, communications, adoption, and reinforcement, so new ways of working take hold across all of Technology.
- Establish outcome-based measures that connect technology delivery to business results, giving executives a clear view of value, efficiency, and execution health. Lead, Influence, and Inspire
- Present to senior executives with clarity and conviction, framing strategy, progress, and decisions in ways that drive action.
- Build alignment and momentum among peers and leaders across Technology and the business, often without direct authority.
- Develop and coach leaders and teams, and model a culture of accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement.
- What You Bring
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, transformation, delivery leadership, or management consulting, ideally within financial services or another complex, regulated enterprise.
- A proven record of leading enterprise-wide transformation across multiple organizations and business units, from vision through sustained adoption.
- Demonstrated success building strong partnerships with business leaders and aligning technology efforts to business outcomes.
- Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence senior leaders and energize broad audiences around change.
- A strong understanding of modern operating models (product, agile, and portfolio approaches) and how they shape organizations and business results.
- Strategic, enterprise-level thinking combined with a drive to execute, and comfort operating in ambiguity at scale.
- A track record of building and leading high-performing teams, and a reputation as a leader people want to follow.
- Bachelor's degree required. An MBA, advanced degree, or change management certification is a plus.
- What Success Looks Like
- A technology strategy that business leaders recognize as shaped with them, not handed to them.
- Strong, active partnerships with every line of business, with the business engaged in how Technology prioritizes and delivers.
- Measurable efficiency gains and improved delivery predictability across Technology.
- Clear, credible connections between technology investment and business outcomes, including growth, customer experience, and market position.
- Recognition as a strategic partner to the COO, CTO, and business executives, and a driving force in building a world-class technology organization
