ReconCraft , a leading manufacturer of specialized marine vessels, is seeking a Buyer to join our procurement team in Clackamas, Oregon. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing components, materials, and parts necessary for the production of our high-performance vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain processes, and experience in marine or industrial manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Sourcing & Procurement:
- Research and identify reliable suppliers of parts and components for marine vessel
- production.
- Evaluate vendor bids, quality, delivery times, and prices to ensure optimal purchasing
- decisions.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintain
- cost efficiency.
- Issue and manage purchase orders for direct materials, components, and indirect goods
- using ERP systems.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the production team to ensure timely supply
- of parts without overstocking.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the continuity of supply and
- quality control.
Order Placement & Follow-up:
Place purchase orders for parts, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules.
- Track order statuses, manage any delays or shortages, and communicate updates to
- relevant departments.
Cost Control:
- Conduct regular cost analysis and budgeting to ensure purchases remain within the
- company's financial guidelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing or bulk purchasing
- strategies.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost-saving
- achievements.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the engineering and production teams to understand specific parts
- requirements.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any supplier quality issues or
- discrepancies.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Required Knowledge/Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in marine or industrial manufacturing
Familiarity with marine parts, components, and suppliers is highly desirable
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions:
Office-based role with occasional visits to the production floor or suppliers’ facilities
Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
Position Pay Range
$60,000 — $65,000 USD
