This program offers insight into the operations of a professional trading desk. The Intern will collaborate with the Treasurer, Portfolio Manager, and Traders to observe daily trading activities. The curriculum covers pricing methodologies, funding strategies, hedging philosophies, and portfolio management decisions. Additionally, the Intern will have the opportunity to engage with cross-functional teams to understand how risk, accounting, and IT functions support the bank’s trading and investment activities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• •Develop a foundational understanding of how investment, funding, and mortgage portfolios are analyzed, structured, and managed.
• •Assist with pricing of advances and facilitate transaction verification and documentation utilizing platforms such as eNegotiate, FMS, Marketwire, and Calypso.
• •Understand key balance sheet instruments and analyze how their values and risks respond to changes in interest rate environments.
• •Help optimize reporting workflows and process automation initiatives using tools such as SSRS, VBA, SQL, or Power BI.
• •Support product and system testing by helping evaluate functionality, accuracy, and performance.
• •Support market information collection and validation by consulting multiple reliable sources.
• •Perform market research and conduct ad hoc analyses to enhance portfolio management strategies.
• •Present relevant market color in bi-weekly bank meetings and a presentation on a relevant topic at the end of the internship.

REQUIREMENTS

• •Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, or related field
• •Working knowledge of fixed income instruments and risk measures
• •Exposure to data science or computer science preferred
• •Strong MS Excel skills; proficiency in VBA, SQL, Power BI
• •Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• •Analytical, conceptual, and IT skills relevant to asset pricing and risk measurement
• •Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities; capable of managing multiple projects

Working hours are adaptable and determined by the student’s academic timetable, relevant course requirements (where applicable), and individual availability. • Hours Per Week : 40
