About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking CIB COO Control Management Specialist in the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Control Team, which is responsible for the implementation and management of the First Line of Defense risk program requirements. Within CIB Control, this position resides in the CIB COO Control team and will specifically support the Financial Crimes Risk and Control team. The role will support the global team to design and implement first line controls with respect to a variety of regulatory requirements, Wells Fargo policies and industry best practices.

This role is responsible for leading the governance, execution, and continuous enhancement of the Financial Crimes Risk and Control framework within CIB COO. The individual will oversee RCSA and control governance activities, drive implementation of regulatory and compliance requirements, and partner across Compliance, Legal, Risk, Audit, and business teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks. The role serves as a key advisor on control design and effectiveness, coordinates complex cross-functional initiatives, and provides executive-level reporting and insights to support risk-informed decision making.

This role requires a collaborative individual capable of initiating action and managing change in a fast-paced environment as well as strong relationship management and execution skills. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement. They will also have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups.

A strong understanding of the current Financial Crimes Risk & Control governance model and controls, as well as strong data review and analysis skills, are crucial for this role, along with a reasonable knowledge of Financial Crimes regulatory requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Lead RCSA governance and annual affirmation activities, including assessment of risks, controls, material control requirements, operational risk questionnaires, service models, supporting documentation, and change management to ensure ongoing alignment with business and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with COO, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Audit, and business stakeholders, including FCRM, to implement and sustain regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements, including issue identification, remediation, corrective actions, and control framework execution.
  • Serve as the primary advisor on control design, implementation, and effectiveness, providing guidance on risk mitigation strategies, regulatory applicability, policy and procedure requirements, and control enhancements.
  • Coordinate complex initiatives across business control, Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM), Independent Risk Management (IRM), Audit, and regional partners by managing milestones, deliverables, approvals, dependencies, and escalations to drive timely execution.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level reporting, presentations, management information, and governance materials that communicate risk exposure, control effectiveness, issue status, key decisions, and required actions to senior management and risk governance forums.
  • Enhance governance processes, reporting, documentation, and monitoring capabilities to improve transparency, accountability, execution tracking, and timely identification and mitigation of risks.

Required Qualifications:

4+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of CIB COO Financial Crimes Risk & Control governance activities, including relevant business risks and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of the RCSA Framework and Issue Management Program Requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and challenge risk and control issues, including evaluation of control design and effectiveness, execution evidence, corrective actions, and risk-to-control alignment.
  • Proven capability to raise issues, escalate concerns appropriately, exercise sound judgment, and provide independent, credible challenge while operating within the organization's risk appetite and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research complex issues, develop actionable insights, and deliver high-quality management information supported by data-driven analysis and attention to detail.
  • Advanced communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into concise, executive-ready messaging and influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams, stakeholders, dependencies, and competing priorities in a fast-paced, highly matrixed, and evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing, diverse teams while fostering collaboration, adaptability, and effective partnerships across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to drive change, influence executive decision-making, and successfully negotiate resolution of critical risk, control, and program-related matters.

Job Expectations:

  • This position is NOT eligible for Visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to work on site per Wells Fargo's standard operating model in the listed location (hybrid schedule – 3 days on-site & 2 remote).
  • The ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$77,000.00 - $121,000.00
