Position Overview

Cross Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Claims Advocate I to join our Claims Department. This entry-level position is ideal for an individual interested in building a long-term career in the insurance industry. Claims Advocate I serves as a key resource for clients by assisting with personal and commercial insurance claims, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring accurate claim documentation and follow-up throughout the claims process.

The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a commitment to delivering a positive client experience. Position salary range is $55k to $65K.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming personal and commercial lines claims.
  • Input claim information accurately into agency management systems and carrier portals.
  • Document claim activity, communications, and status updates thoroughly and timely.
  • Contact insurance carriers to report claims and ensure proper claim setup.
  • Follow up with clients, adjusters, carriers, and third parties to obtain required information and documentation.
  • Monitor open claims and maintain regular communication to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist clients with questions regarding the claims process and claim status updates.
  • Review claim documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain electronic claim files and records in accordance with agency standards.
  • Support Claims Advocates and management with administrative and claim-related duties.
  • Prioritize daily workload to meet deadlines and service expectations.
  • Collaborate with account managers, producers, and agency staff to provide exceptional client service.
  • Develop knowledge of personal and commercial insurance coverages and claims handling practices.
  • Manage auto glass claims ensuring timely response and working with carriers on closure

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Insurance, Communications or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Obtain adjuster’s license within the first 90 days

Preferred

  • Prior customer service, administrative, or insurance experience.
  • Interest in pursuing professional growth and a long-term career in the insurance industry.
