The role

You will hold professional nursing leadership for WellSouth and across the network. Practically, that means being the person our general practice teams, community providers and clinical leaders come to for nursing advice, and making sure a nursing view is in the room when WellSouth is planning workforce and services. A key part of the mahi is workforce development and programme design. You will find where the gaps are and help design what fills them.You will carry the Southern nursing voice into national conversations and bring what you hear there back to our practices.

You will work within a team of experienced nurses and allied health professionals covering every stage of a nursing career, from students on placement through to nurse practitioners. This is influence rather than line management. You will work with the tertiary providers who send us students and the practices who host them and support our nurses into teaching and mentoring the undergraduates and new graduates coming through.

What you will bring

Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current annual practising certificate

A postgraduate qualification. Master's level is preferred not required.

Senior nursing leadership experience in a health setting, including developing and influencing others

A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to equity for Māori and other priority populations.

A strong working knowledge of the New Zealand health sector and where primary care sits in it

Teaching or clinical education experience, which we would value

5 weeks annual leave after two years

Sick leave entitlement of 5 days will be available from commencement of employment and another 5 days at 6 months of employment. 10 days entitlement will be available at 12 months service thereafter.
