How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

• The clinical psychologist provides assessment and therapeutic services to patients. These services include, but are not limited to, extensive psychological evaluations, individual, group, family, and/or couples therapy, treatment planning and discharge.
• •The Clinical Psychologist offers specialty, psychological pain management services within the Department of Psychiatry and the Interventional Pain Management Clinic.

Desired Experience:

• •Experience with CBT, mindfulness-based, and other evidence-based psychological principles for pain management.
• •Experience and ability facilitating individual and group encounters.
• •Ability to develop programming and structure interventions to meet system needs and demands. The position will be expected to build programming to support demand for services.
• •Experience in clinical supervision and education. The clinical psychologist will be expected to maintain an appointment as faculty with the Virginia Tech-Carilion Clinic School of Medicine.
• •Experience with interdisciplinary teams and medical care.

General Clinical Psychologist Duties:

• •Provides assessment and therapeutic services to patients. These services include, but are not limited to, extensive psychological evaluations, individual, group, family, and/or couples therapy, treatment planning and discharge. Coordinates and provides individualized age-appropriate care for patients. This position requires an interest and ability to work with patients who are undergoing psychiatric care and rehabilitation for functional deficits.
• •Conducts extensive psychological assessments, using methods which include, but are not limited to, personality and intelligence testing, brief screening for brain impairment, and more extensive neuropsychological testing.
• •Interprets and reports results of psychological assessments in an accurate and timely manner.
• •Assesses patient's need for services; treats accordingly within the parameters of the mast treatment plan for each patient and documents interventions; and develops/maintains therapeutic relationships with individuals.
• •Serves as member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, participating in the coordination of the patient's treatment with the attending physician, care team members, referral sources, family, and /or others.
• •Collaborates with other therapists and team members and supports the process of team building within the department and throughout the organization.
• •Enhances professional growth by participating in educational activities to ensure ongoing competence in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• •Adheres to policies and procedures of the Carilion Clinic.
• •Assists the management team in special projects.
• •Provides education and training for other professional disciplines, hospital staff, and/or community groups/individuals.

What We Require:

Education: Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited graduate school required.

Experience: Two years clinical experience which may include the year of internship required. The second year must be post-graduate and include supervision by a licensed Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed by Virginia by the Board of Medicine as a clinical psychologist or by the Board of Psychology as a Psychologist (Clinical), or in West Virginia by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists required. Must have de-escalation training successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained annually going forward when working in the inpatient environment.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with physicians and other health care providers. Must have a commitment to continuing education.



 Compensation Range:

$98,155.20 - $157,040.00 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
