GENERAL SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Joyce E. Lillis College of Nursing (JELCON) in fulfilling its mission by facilitating student acquisition of the required knowledge, attitudes, and skills, necessary for success.

The CNA Coordinator will lead and direct students toward their goal of satisfactory completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• •Teach a combination of theory, lab, and clinical courses in the CNA training program (0.50 - .75 FTE).
• •Provide oversight and coordination of the CNA training program (0.25 FTE).
• •Assist with College of Nursing needs e.g. clinical instruction, assisting with clinical placement, regulatory compliance, computer access, etc. (0.25 FTE).
• •Develop clinical partnerships to ensure maximum CNA program offerings.
• •Coordinate with the Training Center to administer CNA programs.
• •Collaborate with the Data Analyst to collect program data.
• •Ensure compliance with Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) administrative regulations.
• •Provide students written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy, methods of evaluation, and grading practices.
• •Evaluate student progress on a continuing basis, reporting in writing at designated times.
• •Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program, curriculum, and/or courses.
• •Develop and maintain professional relationships with community, business, and industry representatives.
• •Collaborate with the Manager of Clinical Coordination to secure clinical placements.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• •Minimum of Associate degree required
• •Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred
• •Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, at least one of which is in a long-term care environment.
• •Current and valid Iowa RN licensure.
• •Experience teaching in a CNA program or supervising CNAs.
• •Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate, varied, and innovative classroom/clinical/field teaching strategies.
• •Other duties as assigned.
