Under the general supervision of the Manager – Co-worker Health, the Co-worker Health Nurse performs daily activities to provide health services to Mercy co-workers. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Overview

Mercy Hospital South is seeking a dedicated Co-Worker Health Nurse (RN/LPN) to join our Employee Health team on a PRN basis. In this role, you will help promote a healthy and safe work environment by supporting occupational health programs, employee wellness initiatives, regulatory compliance, and workplace injury management.

Key Responsibilities

• Employee Health Services
• •Serve as a health resource for co-workers throughout their employment.
• •Complete pre-employment health screenings, including: Drug screens Medical history reviews Laboratory testing Chest X-rays (when indicated) Immunization verification
• •Administer and manage TB screening programs.
• •Perform respirator fit testing and provide education as needed.
• •Support annual influenza vaccination efforts and other immunization programs.
• •Educate co-workers on vaccine benefits, contraindications, side effects, and precautions.

• Occupational Health & Workers' Compensation
• •Provide first aid and follow-up care for work-related injuries.
• •Collaborate with managers and departments to facilitate return-to-work plans.
• •Assist with Workers' Compensation processes, injury documentation, and treatment coordination as needed.

• Compliance & Reporting
• •Ensure Employee Health practices remain compliant with federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
• •Maintain confidential employee health records.
• •Assist with data collection, reporting, and documentation for regulatory agencies and accreditation standards.
• •Support policy and procedure updates related to employee health services.

• Team Collaboration
• •Participate in employee wellness, environmental safety, and needlestick prevention initiatives.
• •Uphold Mercy's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional care.
• •Communicate effectively with co-workers, leadership, providers, and external partners.
• •Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Graduate of an accredited Nursing program (RN or LPN)

Licensure

Current Missouri RN or LPN license

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a hospital, occupational health, or clinical setting preferred

Certifications

Current BLS certification required
