This internship provides experience in the financial services industry and the opportunity to learn about the Federal Home Loan Banks’ (FHLBs) integral role in providing a source of funding and liquidity to the mortgage markets. The FHLBs provide readily available, low-cost funding to members thereby increasing the availability of credit for residential mortgage lending and investment in housing and community development. This unique experience will expose you in a short period of time to a wide range of mortgage products utilized as collateral to secure funding, as well as an understanding of various collateral valuation practices.

Areas of Focus:

Collateral Services – Gain a wealth of knowledge from mortgage industry experts with extensive experience in mortgage underwriting and lending practices. This department is responsible for conducting loan reviews; validating lending policies and practices of our member institutions; and, for perfecting the Bank’s security interest on collateral pledged to the Bank to secure borrowings.

In this position, you will learn about loan documentation, asset valuation, secured lending practices and warehouse lending. The intern will perform analysis of the Bank’s collateral; examine loan documents for various types of mortgage loans; and create/review various reports of value for the department and the Bank.

Qualifications:

• •Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, or real estate
• •Self-starter with strong problem solving and analytical skills
• •Organized and highly detail-oriented
• •Team player with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor
• •Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to listen to and accept instruction
• •Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Power Point
• •Knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or Power Automate applications is a plus
• •Hours Per Week: 40

Eligibility: Students must be enrolled and active as an undergrad or graduate student at an accredited college or university offering post graduate studies.
