The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Software Configuration Manager to join our growing Electronic Warfare team in Sterling, VA, supporting Counter Unmanned Systems (UxS). In this role, you will lead configuration management for software applications and embedded firmware while coordinating with our Hardware Design and Manufacturing Operational Group to maintain configuration control across integrated product offerings.

This position combines configuration management oversight with hands-on DevOps engineering. You will establish change control processes, implement them within the development toolchain, and maintain configuration integrity throughout the product lifecycle. Working closely with software engineers, DevOps teams, manufacturing technicians, procurement and logistics specialists, and program managers, you will ensure configuration management practices meet contractual requirements while supporting efficient development and delivery.

Responsibilities:

Configuration Management and Change Control

• •Develop and maintain configuration management plans, policies, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with contractual requirements, company standards, and program objectives.
• •Establish and maintain configuration identification, version control, status accounting, and audit processes for software, firmware, and supporting hardware.
• •Define configuration items, naming conventions, versioning standards, and baselines across development, test, and production environments.
• •Maintain traceability between requirements, source code, builds, test results, and delivered artifacts.
• •Manage software change requests, ensuring changes are properly reviewed, approved, validated, and incorporated into established baselines.
• •Participate in Change Control Board and Engineering Review Board activities, evaluating proposed changes for completeness, compliance, and potential impact on program requirements.
• •Implement technical controls, including branch protection, merge approvals, and designated code ownership, to enforce established change control processes.
• •Conduct configuration audits and maintain the documentation and records necessary to demonstrate compliance with contractual and program requirements.
• •Collaborate with program stakeholders to analyze, negotiate, and implement configuration management policies, standards, and requirements across applicable contracts and delivery orders.

DevOps and Toolchain Engineering

• •Administer and configure GitLab, including protected branches and tags, merge request approval rules, CODEOWNERS, push rules, and group-level compliance controls.
• •Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and Jenkins to automate software builds, testing, security scanning, and artifact publication.
• •Establish reproducible build processes through containerized environments, pinned dependencies, and version-controlled pipeline configurations.
• •Manage software artifacts across container registries and package repositories, including Kubernetes-deployed microservices, container image provenance, retention policies, and software bill of materials (SBOM) generation and tracking.
• •Configure and maintain Jira workflows to support change control, release management, and traceability between Jira and GitLab.
• •Provide technical guidance to software developers, DevOps engineers, systems engineers, quality assurance teams, and program management on configuration management processes and tools.

Release Management

• •Establish and enforce release readiness criteria, coordinate release scope and cut-off dates, and prepare release notes aligned with approved change records.
• •Compile and retain release evidence, including commit provenance, build records, artifact checksums, dependency manifests, test results, and approval documentation.
• •Manage deployment approvals and environment promotion to ensure the same validated artifact is promoted across environments rather than rebuilt for each deployment.
• •Develop and maintain rollback procedures and accurate configuration records reflecting deployed software and firmware.

Qualifications:

Required:

• •US Citizenship.
• •Able to obtain TS/SCI security clearance.
• •Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ years of directly related experience.
• •Working knowledge of software configuration management principles, including configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and configuration audits.
• •Hands-on experience with Git-based version control, including branching strategy, merge/pull request workflows, and branch protection controls.
• •Working knowledge of CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI or Jenkins, including pipeline configuration and build automation.
• •Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration concepts (Docker, Kubernetes) as they apply to artifact management and deployment.
• •Experience administering or configuring Jira and Confluence for change and release workflows.
• •Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), MS Project, SharePoint, and MS Teams.

Desired:

• •5+ years of experience in Configuration Management
• •Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• •Experience with GitLab Ultimate specifically: compliance frameworks, security scanning, dependency/SBOM management, and audit event reporting.
• •Scripting proficiency in Python.
• •Experience with configuration management of embedded firmware, including toolchain version control and build reproducibility for cross-compiled targets.
• •Familiarity with complex electronic systems, preferably electronic warfare (EW) systems and/or software-defined radios and associated subsystems.
• •Experience supporting DoD or federal programs subject to contractual CM and audit requirements.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. $70,800 - $148,600
