PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The hiring salary range for this position is $73,701 - $92,127/ annually.

The Court Supervisor provides divisional supervision for daily operations, records and project management, and administrative duties of Court Administration and Aurora Municipal Court. The role supports the Manager of Court Services to establish effective operations, processes, and policies including understanding and managing legislative changes that affect court processes.

We are looking for a full-time Court Supervisor. The ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates exceptional leadership, professionalism, and integrity while overseeing daily court operations. They are highly organized, able to manage complex situations, scheduling demands, and staff coordination with precision and fairness. Effective communication is a core trait, enabling them to interact confidently with judges, attorneys, court staff, and members of the public. They remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and ensure compliance with legal procedures and departmental policies. This role also fosters a collaborative, respectful work environment, mentors staff, and consistently promotes efficiency, accuracy, and accountability throughout all court processes.

The mission of the Court Services’ Division of Aurora Municipal Court is to provide administrative support to the Court and to serve the public in a professional, timely and efficient manner. We strive to accomplish our mission by ensuring that everyone within our organization and those who use it are afforded high-quality service to both internal and external stakeholders and they are treated in a courteous and respectful manner. This is an in-person role. You can expect to work at the Aurora Municipal Court located at 14999 East Alameda Parkway. This role may require occasional weekend and holiday work. Office hours are typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

The City of Aurora has one remaining furlough day for 2026 on Thursday, December 24, 2026.

The City of Aurora will implement five (5) furlough days (unpaid days off) for 2027.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizes, supervises, and coordinates the daily job duties of assigned staff responsible for all aspects of processing municipal court cases

Develops staff work plans, measures and tracks progress toward goals, prepares and conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations including planning, recommending, and implementing changes in the Court Services processes

Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, and orienting. Facilitates and implements performance evaluations including goals and tracking overall progress of employees. Coaches, counsels, and disciplines assigned employees

Facilitates and implements employee training and development

Creates, modifies, and maintains Court Services policies and procedures

Provides court and case information to defendants, attorneys, police officers, and the public pursuant to the open records act and confidentiality requirements

Provides input on policy development and updates processes to new rules and legislation

Provides internal and external customer service and responds to requests and concerns. Serves as a point of contact and coordinates changes in court services operations

Prepares court documents and reports. Monitors, reviews, and provides efficient and effective case processing

Performs administrative functions including case management data entry, reviewing case entries, providing advanced research on complex cases, processing warrants, and daily balancing of system receipting

Performs complex or non-routine clerical and administrative support functions

Responds to a variety of inquiries and complaints requiring the interpretation of policy and procedures

Corresponds with other jurisdictions to exchange/correct case status and documents

Identifies and completes projects that strengthen Court Services ability to effectively serve the community

Handles CJIS related information

Performs additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field

Experience:

At least three (3) years of court leadership and direct supervisory staff experience (municipal court preferred)

At least three (3) years progressively responsible administrative municipal court experience

Licenses and Certifications:

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification required within six (6) months of hire

NCIC / CCIC Certification may be required

Knowledge:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational theory, supervision, and administration

Knowledge of court procedures and protocol, as wee as records management requirements associated with Court Administration

Knowledge of municipal and state regulations, city ordinances, state statues, and municipal laws pertaining to municipal court documents and procedures, records management, and personnel administration

Knowledge of analysis and research techniques

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and managerial skills

Skill in the use of windows-based programs

Strong customer service skills

Skill in checking information for accuracy and completeness and correcting errors

Active listening and communication skills

Leadership and management skills

Problem-solving skills

Ability to formulate recommendations based on research and data analysis
