We’re looking for a Credit Officer to join our Finance team at the Bunnings NZ Support Office in Ellerslie. This is a busy, customer-focused role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll spend plenty of time on the phone, build valuable Accounts Receivable and Credit experience, and be supported by a collaborative team that wants to see you learn and succeed.

About the role

This is an opportunity to combine your communication skills with your eye for detail in a role where both really matter.

As a Credit Officer, you’ll support our PowerPass Trade customers with their accounts, payments, invoices and credit enquiries. You’ll manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, helping customers understand their accounts, resolving queries and having professional conversations about overdue payments and payment arrangements.

It’s a fast-moving environment, so being able to work at pace without compromising on accuracy will be key. Because you’ll be working with financial and customer information, exceptional attention to detail is essential.

What's involved

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Manage a high volume of inbound and outbound customer calls throughout your day
  • Support PowerPass Trade customers with account balances, invoices, payments and credit-related enquiries
  • Contact customers about overdue accounts and work with them to find practical payment solutions
  • Build positive customer relationships through clear, confident and professional communication
  • Investigate account queries and credit claims, making sure information is accurate and nothing gets missed
  • Maintain accurate customer and account information across multiple systems
  • Work closely with colleagues and other teams across Bunnings to resolve issues and achieve positive outcomes
  • Build your credit and finance knowledge while learning from an experienced and supportive team

About You

You’re someone who takes real pride in getting things right. You have exceptional attention to detail, can work accurately with financial information and stay focused when there are multiple things happening at once.

You’re also an exceptional communicator. As much of your day will be spent speaking with customers, you’ll need to be comfortable on the phone and able to communicate clearly, confidently and professionally.

You enjoy working at pace and can balance speed with accuracy. You’re professional and dependable, but equally curious and open to learning new ways of working.

What you'll need

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence managing a high volume of inbound and outbound phone calls
  • A professional, calm and respectful approach to customer conversations
  • The ability to work effectively and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confidence using computer systems and the ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly
  • Previous experience in customer service, contact centres, accounts receivable, collections, administration or credit would be advantageous, but isn't essential
