Custodial Groundskeeper

Description

The Custodial Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, safety,

and overall condition of assigned buildings, grounds, and outdoor areas. This position performs

routine custodial, landscaping, groundskeeping, and basic maintenance duties to ensure a clean,

safe, and well-maintained environment for employees and customers.

Custodial Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• •Clean and maintain interior spaces, including offices, restrooms, common areas,
• •hallways, and other assigned areas.
• •Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect floors and surfaces.
• •Clean and maintain restrooms, including replenishing paper products, soap, and other supplies.
• •Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
• •Clean windows, doors, fixtures, furniture, and other building surfaces.
• •Monitor custodial supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory needs replenishment.
• •Respond to spills, cleanliness issues, and other housekeeping needs in a timely manner.
• •Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDA standards.
• •Communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking in the English language.
• •Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time and maneuver effectively around warehouse, warehouse property, and showrooms.
• •Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Groundskeeping Responsibilities

• •Spray, pull and burn weeds in maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
• •Perform seasonal landscaping duties as needed.
• •Maintain sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and outdoor common areas.
• •Remove litter and debris from grounds and outdoor areas.
• •Assist with snow and ice removal during winter weather.
• •Maintain and operate basic groundskeeping, trimmers, blowers, and other hand or power tools.
• •Assist with painting and striping both inside and exterior areas as requested.

Requirements

• •High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• •Be able to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• •Ability to prioritize and organize workflow daily to accomplish required tasks.
• •Previous custodial, groundskeeping, landscaping, maintenance, or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
• •Must be able to use hand tools effectively.
• •Ability to work in varied weather conditions.
• •Ability to safely operate custodial and groundskeeping equipment.
• •Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday which will include bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and/or twisting frequently.

The physical requirements for this position are considered: HEAVY

Sedentary Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of

force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects,

including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the

time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Light Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force

frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.

Medium Exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force

frequently and or greater than negligible up to 10 lbs. of force constantly

to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for

Light Work.

Heavy Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force

frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Very Heavy Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50

lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to

move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for

Heavy Work.

Definitions:

Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time

Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time

Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time
