Shift: Friday - Tuesday 6:30a - 3:00p

Description: This is maintenance and personal services work involving minor supervisory duties in the custodial care of buildings and grounds of a mental health hospital. Work includes cleaning residential and ground areas including bedrooms, dayrooms, dining areas, bathrooms, corridors, and program areas. Additional responsibilities include shoveling, moving furniture and work requires considerable physical effort. Work is performed under general supervision.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKS : (A position may not be assigned all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned).
Leads a small number of other employees and participates in the routine cleaning of buildings and the care of surrounding grounds in order to maintain building cleanliness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to: function as a lead worker in a structured work environment; follow instructions; operate manual and automatic custodial equipment; adhere to safety rules; adapt quickly to diverse work assignments; work harmoniously in a team environment; lift 40 lbs. unassisted; and follow a work schedule.

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State of Maine that provides services for people with severe mental illness. As a member of a statewide community of care givers, DDPC collaborates with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, their community and personal supports, to provide recovery-oriented, respectful, compassionate, and effective psychiatric care and treatment in the least restrictive, safest, and most therapeutic environment we can create.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is dedicated to promoting health, safety, resilience, and opportunity for Maine people. The Department provides health and social services to approximately a third of the State's population, including children, families, older Mainers, and individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The Department also promotes public health, operates two state psychiatric hospitals, and provides oversight to health care providers.
