What You’ll Do

You'll support data governance by operationalizing policies and SOPs, maintaining metadata and Dataset Reference Sheets, governing critical data elements, authoring data quality rules, and coordinating centralized data sharing and access governance.

• •Intake, triage, and route internal/external data requests; maintain audit trails and enforce director accountability and delegation.
• •Coordinate with Legal on Data Sharing Agreements, retention, and destruction obligations; track request timelines, SLA adherence, and escalate overdue items.
• •Help data stewards develop and maintain data dictionaries, and lead and support data stewardship initiatives.
• •Identify and document technical metadata sources and business enrichment requirements; maintain required catalog fields and Dataset Reference Sheets.
• •Author and update data quality rules tied to critical data elements; track and resolve data quality issues, and report aging and closure metrics.
• •Draft, review, and operationalize agency data governance policies and SOPs; maintain SOP libraries, change logs, and decision records.
• •Translate policy into practical guardrails for analysts and stewards (classification, handling, retention), and serve as a resource for policy interpretation and stewardship best practices.
• •Develop and deliver data literacy, stewardship, and governance training for agency staff; measure training effectiveness ("training uplift") and iterate materials for divisions with varying maturity; create and publish job aids, templates, and stewardship guides.
• •Work with data owners, stewards, custodians, and program directors to align priorities; communicate complex governance topics to non-technical staff; build trust and cooperation across divisions while enforcing governance guardrails.
• •Define and document KPIs and quality metrics; provide progress reports to leadership and oversee periodic updates to the data governance roadmap; identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of data assets for efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

• •Experience using Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, or similar (2 years)
• •Personal and professional integrity with strong work ethics (2 years)
• •Relationship Management: ability to develop and maintain relationships across agency divisions (2 years)
• •Project Oversight: ability to align priorities with strategic initiatives (3 years)
• •Decision-making: ability to identify root cause of issues and make sound and timely decisions to resolve problems (3 years)
• •Excellent critical thinking, time management, and communication skills (4 years)
• •Ability to take critical feedback in stride and adjust approaches accordingly (3 years)
• •Ability to use Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a professional setting (4 years)
• •Must live locally in the Indianapolis area

Bonus Experience

• •Experience with data lineage tools and methods (2 years)
• •Ability to understand the data analysis life cycle and its application in a business setting (3 years)
• •Effective in building trust, respect, and cooperation among teams (2 years)
