Data Governance Consultant

You will design and deliver data governance solutions for enterprise clients. You will either lead it as the primary governance consultant or own key workstreams within a larger program. You are the bridge between governance strategy and platform implementation: you assess the current state, design the target model, and turn it into processes, catalog configuration and controls that client teams adopt and run on their own. What you will do Assessment and design: assess governance maturity; define the target operating model, governance framework, policies and standards; build the roadmap and prioritization (CDEs, domains, use cases). Operating model implementation: implement roles (owners, stewards, custodians), decision rights and RACI; facilitate the workshops that get them adopted; document procedures and standards. Catalog and metadata: build the business glossary, onboard critical assets, document lineage, and configure stewardship and certification workflows in Atlan, Collibra or similar. Data quality: define rules with the business, partner with engineers to implement them (Snowflake, dbt, Atlan DQ, Monte Carlo), and deliver scorecards and issue management through remediation. Certified metrics: establish certified definitions and approval workflows for critical KPIs and reports. Governance by design: work with architects and engineers to embed governance controls and metadata into delivery pipelines, and identify automation opportunities. Adoption and handover: stakeholder mapping, communications, steward onboarding, training and knowledge transfer so client teams can operate governance independently. Practice: contribute reusable accelerators (playbooks, templates, rule libraries). Data Governance Design and Delivery: strong experience in data governance or data management, including at least one client or enterprise engagement where you designed a governance framework or operating model and led its implementation. Data Catalog and Metadata Management: Hands-on configuration of at least one data catalog (Atlan, Collibra, Alation or Purview), including business glossary, asset onboarding, lineage and stewardship workflows. Data Quality: Experience defining data quality rules with business stakeholders and delivering data quality scorecards or dashboards used to monitor and report quality over time. Technical Collaboration: Working SQL and experience partnering with data engineers to implement and automate data quality rules and monitoring on cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred). Stakeholder Engagement and Adoption: Proven experience facilitating workshops with business and technical stakeholders, and designing communication, training and change plans that drove adoption. Issue Management: Experience running data issue management processes, from triage and root cause analysis with technical teams to remediation and closure. Certifications: Atlan, Collibra or CDMP certification, or equivalent vendor certification in data governance or data quality. Data Observability and Engineering Tools: Hands-on experience with data quality or observability tools (Monte Carlo, Atlan DQ, Soda, Great Expectations) or dbt. AI and Master Data Governance: Exposure to AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001) or to Master Data Management initiatives.
