Description of Task to be Performed:
AnaVation is seeking a Database Administrator who will manage and optimize our customers’ database environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies This role blends core DBA tasks with system administration in Windows Server. You’ll help ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms while partnering closely with development and infrastructure teams.
Daily duties include, but are not limited to:
Designs, implements, and maintains moderately complex databases.
Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.
Administer and test computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems.
Monitor performance, analyze wait stats, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics
Design, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and high availability/DR (e.g., AGs, log shipping)
Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration
Automate routine operations using PowerShell or similar scripting tools
Collaborate with teams to support application releases and schema changes
Enforce database and system security with proper access controls, encryption, and auditing
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across production and non-production environments
Create and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and best practices
This position requires a Top-Secret clearance.
This position is on-site in Washington DC with no remote option.
