Delivery Driver & Warehouse Operative - Life Sciences

Location : Edinburgh

Salary : Competitive salary plus bonus and shift allowance

The position operates on a Monday to Friday rotational shift pattern, comprising: Early Shift: 07:30 - 16:30 Late Shift: 09:00 - 18:00

Scope

As a Driver Warehouse & Temperature Control Operative for our Edinburgh Operations you will be involved in the efficient collection and delivery of a variety of packaged consignments and other material which may be either temperature critical or time sensitive. The role requires the use of a light goods vehicle, usually over short distances, but may require travel over longer distances with occasional overnight stays.

Role and Responsibilities

• •The role involves transporting shipments securely and efficiently, following operational instructions, and maintaining compliance with regulations.
• •Tasks include verifying consignments, loading/unloading vehicles, and ensuring documentation accuracy.
• •The operative must communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and colleagues, reporting issues promptly.
• •Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, safety inspections, and adhering to maintenance schedules are essential duties.

Import and Export Operations

• •Import tasks include unloading shipments, verifying documentation, and managing temperature-controlled materials.
• •Export responsibilities involve preparing shipments, verifying instructions, and ensuring compliance with packaging and documentation standards.
• •Both processes require careful handling of temperature-sensitive items and accurate record-keeping.

Warehousing and Stock Management

• •The role includes inspecting and maintaining handling equipment, ensuring a clean warehouse environment.
• •Refurbishing reusable packaging and managing inventory levels are key tasks.
• •Monitoring the condition of temperature-control materials ensures shipment integrity and operational readiness.

Candidate Requirements and Attributes

Experience of working in a warehouse, distribution, transport or driving related position in a time critical and temperature controlled environment

• •Experience of route planning, working to delivery schedules and warehouse operations
• •Able to work independently and as part of a team

Remains calm under pressure

Flexible approach to shifts and last-minute cover

High attention to detail

• •Able to prioritise workload
• •Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, strong communication, and organizational skills.
• •Personal attributes include being reliable, adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
• •Physical capability, team spirit, and a professional appearance are essential for success in the role.
• •Driving licence with no more tham 6 points
