This position is part of the Arctic Energy Office, Department of Energy. As a Deputy Director, Supervisory Policy Analyst, you will be spearheading the Arctic energy strategy and high-level policy analysis. Drives long-term organizational goals, shapes legislative responses, and champions DOE interests in interagency forums. Directs a specialist team, optimizes critical resources, and executes high-impact mission objectives.

Veterans shape the future of energy As a Deputy Director, Supervisory Policy Analyst, you will: Direct the daily administrative and programmatic operations of the Arctic Energy Office in consultation with and in the absence of the Director to align activities with strategic goals. Formulate comprehensive policy options, strategies, and technical recommendations on Arctic and Alaskan energy initiatives. Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments to evaluate their impact on agency programs and cybersecurity requirements. Represent the Department in intra-agency, interagency, and external forums to advocate for Arctic energy objectives. Manage organizational resources, budget allocations, and procurement activities to support mission priorities. Guide, consult with and/or supervise ad hoc or formal teams of specialists as circumstances dictate, by assigning work, evaluating performance, and directing personnel actions.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 3 of the 4 of the following: Formulating long-range strategic plans for energy, environmental, or technology programs related to Arctic and Alaskan energy. Evaluating the performance of subordinate or team personnel against established work standards. Assessing program operations for adherence to statutory regulations, policies, or administrative guidelines. Writing executive policy papers to provide decision-making recommendations to executive leadership. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
