Industry: Heavy Engineering / Industrial Equipment Manufacturing

• Job Purpose
• Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design, engineering, and optimization of static equipment and modular systems. This role ensures all designs strictly adhere to national and international codes (ASME, IBR) while meeting customer specifications for critical industries like Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, and Fertilisers.

• Key Responsibilities
• Mechanical Design & Engineering

Perform rigorous mechanical design and structural calculations for pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, columns, modular skids, and interconnected piping systems .

Execute engineering calculations using industry-standard design codes, specifically ASME Section VIII Div. 1 & Div. 2 and IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations).

Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) or thermal/hydraulic design calculations where applicable to validate complex design components.

Detailing & Quality Assurance

Prepare, review, and approve detailed engineering deliverables including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and piping layouts.

Ensure all engineering designs comply with project specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and global safety standards.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical design queries raised during the manufacturing, assembly, and inspection phases.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with the Production, Quality Control, and Procurement departments to resolve design-related issues on the shop floor.

Assist the Estimation and Marketing teams by providing quick technical evaluations, weight calculations, and material selections during the pre-bid stage.

Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies (TPIAs) and clients to secure necessary drawing approvals.

• Required Candidate Profile
• Technical & Domain Expertise

Expert-level understanding of ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2 and IBR guidelines. Familiarity with other international codes like API, TEMA, and ASME B31.3 is highly desirable.

Hands-on proficiency with design software such as PV Elite, Compress, HTRI, AutoPIPE, or AutoCAD .

Strong knowledge of material selection (CS, SS, Alloy Steel, Clad materials) and welding symbols/processes utilized in heavy engineering.

Experience & Education

5 years of core mechanical design experience within a heavy equipment manufacturing or EPC environment.

Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
