About MONEI

MONEI is revolutionizing omnichannel payments for top brands across Southern Europe. Our award-winning serverless architecture even earned recognition as the AWS Startup Architecture of the Year (Iberia region). With rapid global expansion underway, we're building the future of payment processing—and we want you on our team.

The Role

This is a hybrid role: you'll do both Technical Merchant Support and Developer Advocacy. One day you'll be debugging a failed payment for a merchant; the next, you'll be writing the doc that prevents that same ticket from ever happening again. We're not looking for someone who picks a side—we're looking for someone who thrives at the intersection.

You'll be the bridge between our engineering team and the people who use MONEI: merchants, developers, partners, and internal teams. You'll investigate real issues, ship small fixes, keep our docs sharp, write tutorials, and engage with the developer community—all in the same role.

You'll work directly with one of our senior engineers, who'll invest in your growth from day one.

We're open to multiple formats:

Full-time for experienced candidates with a mix of technical support and developer-facing experience.

Part-time or paid internship (targeted at UPC and similar tech students, ~20h/week, hybrid from our Barcelona office) with a clear path to a full-time role after a successful trial.

What You'll Do

Investigate Support Tickets: Debug payment failures, integration issues, and account questions from merchants, partners, and internal teams.

Reproduce & Escalate Bugs: Build minimal repro cases, file clear bug reports, and act as the bridge between merchants/developers using MONEI and our engineering team.

Ship Small Code Fixes: Own low-risk fixes end-to-end—open PRs, get them reviewed, ship to production.

Own Developer & Merchant Documentation: Keep our public and internal docs accurate, clear, and AI-friendly based on what you learn from real tickets.

Write Guides & Tutorials: Publish content that helps developers and merchants integrate MONEI faster.

Improve APIs, Plugins & Integrations: Surface real customer feedback to engineering to refine API and plugin design.

Improve Internal Tooling & Runbooks: Spot recurring issues, write/update runbooks, and propose automation to scale support.

Engage the Developer Community: Help maintain our Twitter/X presence and developer-facing channels.

Ship Fast with AI: Leverage Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex to move quickly without sacrificing quality.

What You'll Need

Technical Foundation: Comfortable reading and writing code. For full-time candidates, hands-on software development or technical support experience. For interns, current studies in CS, Software Engineering, or related at UPC (or equivalent).

JS/TypeScript basics: Enough to read and debug plugin code and small Node.js scripts.

REST API & HTTP debugging: Comfortable with Postman, curl, HTTP status codes, and tracing API calls.

Documentation Skills: Clear, concise, engaging technical writing.

SQL / basic query skills: Able to pick up new query languages (we use OpenSearch and DynamoDB).

Git & GitHub: Branches, PRs, code review.

Languages: Native or C1 Spanish + B2+ English. Most merchants are Spanish-speaking; engineering and docs are in English.

Coding Fundamentals: Able to write and debug code without AI assistance. We encourage AI tools, but you must understand and critically evaluate what they produce—no blind vibe-coding.

Communication: Strong written communication, empathy for users, ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Tools You'll Work With

Zendesk, Datadog, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, GitHub, Notion, and our internal MONEI admin tooling.

Bonus Points

Previous experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Developer Advocate, DevRel, or Technical Evangelist.

Experience with payment APIs or fintech.

Fluency with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex).

Technical writing or public speaking experience.

Familiarity with e-commerce plugins (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop).

Experience managing social media or engaging with developer communities.

What We Offer

Competitive Compensation aligned with your expertise. Paid stipend for interns.

Flexible Work Format: Full-time, part-time, or UPC-friendly paid internship (~20h/week, hybrid from Barcelona).

Path to Full-Time: Strong intern performers convert to a full-time role.

Direct Mentorship from one of our senior engineers.

AI Tools on Us: Full subscription plus access.

Remote Flexibility with offices in Málaga and Barcelona.

Flexible Hours & Generous PTO.

Dynamic Culture: Small, cross-functional product team obsessed with payments innovation.
