T he Role

We are looking for a Director, Engineering - AI Data Technology to lead engineering teams that deliver scalable data and AI capabilities supporting the Fidelity Wealth business. In this role, you will partner with business, product, architecture, data, and platform teams to turn Wealth priorities into secure, reliable solutions that help advisors work more effectively and improve customer experiences.

Strategic Engineering Leadership:

• •Provide engineering leadership across product, architecture, platform, and delivery teams, turning Fidelity Wealth priorities and advisor/customer needs into practical AI solutions.
• •Stay current on trends in data management, AI engineering, and responsible AI delivery, and use that expertise to guide practical technology decisions.
• •Set technical direction with Architecture and Platform Engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet expectations for security, scale, reuse, resiliency, observability, and high availability.

Engaging People Leadership:

• •Set clear expectations for engineering excellence and help teams understand how their work connects to the broader technology and business strategy.
• •Build and develop a strong organization by hiring thoughtfully, growing talent, supporting career development, and retaining the skills needed for current and future priorities.
• •Partner with senior engineering leaders on the standards, resources, and direction needed for teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• •Extensive people management and engineering leadership experience, with a proven ability to build, develop, and retain diverse, high-performing teams while fostering a culture of inclusion, experimentation, and continuous learning.
• •Deep hands-on engineering background solving software engineering problems, including API development, data modeling, customer-facing applications, cloud-based solutions, and modern architecture patterns such as distributed, serverless, event-driven, and microservices.
• •Experience using DevOps metrics to manage engineering performance, improve delivery practices, and advocate for continuous improvement that advances engineering excellence.
• •Experience partnering with Product and Business stakeholders to translate strategy into a clear mission, measurable outcomes, and executable delivery plans.

• Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
• Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $126,000-255,000 USD per year. Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
