ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized candidate for the Director or Sr. Director, Origination position. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound industry knowledge, superior communications, and detail-oriented organizational skills.
The Director or Sr. Director, Origination will join a growing Origination team with the main objective of sourcing, negotiating, and executing PPA’s and other complex power off-take arrangements. The role requires advanced knowledge of CAISO and Southwest power markets, as well as extensive experience with contracting and PPA structures and negotiation related to US utility-scale solar and energy storage. This role reports to the Executive Vice President, Origination and Energy Markets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Business Development – originate new opportunities for solar and energy storage off-take in defined territory.
Create new and build upon existing key relationships with utilities, CCA’s and off-take partners
Negotiate and close PPA’s with large utility and other target customers - manage contract transaction execution including due diligence, negotiation, and post-closing oversight
Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Work with the finance team to perform financial analyses, support the creation of new analytical models
Work in close collaboration with the Finance and Project Development functional teams
Working on multiple projects and transactions at any given time with multiple teams
Assess and translate market competition, industry trends, emerging customer challenges and changes into market strategies.
Understand legal, regulatory and structuring concepts impacting customer and market development.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
5-10 years related experience in power origination roles preferably solar with strong track record of closing PPA’s.
Bachelor's and master’s degree in Business Administration
Strong experience with utility-scale energy procurement structures and transactions
Energy markets knowledge with focus on solar energy - regulatory policies, rates and tariffs, electric transmission, solar generation and storage technologies
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% in defined territory
Excellent interpersonal skills; written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Excellent sales, networking, leadership, negotiation and time management skills

The base salary range for this full-time position is listed below (plus bonus and benefits). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus and benefits.

$163,942 — $206,892 USD
