Organization Description

Family Futures’ mission is to shape a community in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. Our geographic focus is primarily Kent County with some services extending into other communities. We help children ages 0 through 5 by supporting parents, providing connections to resources and programs, and offering ways to monitor and enhance early childhood development. Interns gain practical, hands-on experience with a focus on macro and systems-level advocacy. This position provides well-rounded experience in systems coordination, quality improvement projects, workgroup implementation, team management, and event coordination. This intern will be part of a larger team that provides support to other areas of the organization as needed.

This in-person internship will run from January 4th, 2027, through April 23rd, 2027, and will have a mandatory orientation according to the intern’s schedule at the Family Futures’ office. This internship can also be extended into the next internship period for a second semester.

A position at Family Futures may entail the following: the use of a personal vehicle, lifting of boxes (roughly 25 lbs.), as well as attendance of community events outside of regularly scheduled hours. Job Overview:

Family Futures employees serve as a spokespersons and champions of Family Futures in the communities we serve. A position at Family Futures may entails the following: the use of a personal vehicle, lifting of boxes (roughly 25 lbs.) may be required, as well as attendance of community events outside of regular work hours.

Duties & Responsibilities May Include

Assisting supervisor with the planning and implementation of quality improvement projects

Building relationships with parent partners and other community stakeholders

Coordinating and planning large group and community events

Aiding in creation of monthly program reporting, outcomes, and evaluation

Planning and attending various professional development and learning opportunities

Attending various meetings and workgroups as a representative and advocate for the community

General Requirements

Current college student or recent graduate

Experience or interest in social work, advocacy, family studies, public health, or related field

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong written and verbal communications skills

Strong Microsoft Office skills

Effective time management and organization skills, even with frequent interruptions

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to work at least 15 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and planning skills

Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills
