Emergency Department Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Provider- Per Diem

The Emergency Department is seeking per diem Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join our busy and collaborative emergency department team. The ED APP works in all zones of the Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments, both of which are Level I Trauma centers. Dues also include shifts in the Observation Unit.

Emergency Department APPs:

• •Work in all zones of both departments
• •Manage patients of all ages, including conducting exams, generating appropriate care plans and review test results for appropriate disposition
• •Collaborate closely with the attending physician and other health care providers to provide high-quality patient care, with an attention to efficient throughput
• •Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge plans in a clear and compassionate manner
• •Providers are required to have competence in basic procedures such as laceration repair and incision and drainage. Additional competencies include, but are not limited to lumbar punctures, airway skills, and thoracentesis.

Qualifications:

• •License and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State
• •Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant program
• •Familiarity working with electronic medical records. Epic experience preferred.
• •Significant Emergency Medicine experience
• •Collaborate effectively across various departments to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and a positive work environment
• •Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality
• •Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Basic Life Support certification required
• •Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position in a clinical environment, including, but not limited to, standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Requires sufficient visual, auditory, and manual dexterity abilities to assess patients, provide direct patient care, operate medical equipment, and complete documentation.
• •Minimum monthly shift commitment required
