Introduction
Atura Power is the largest fleet of combined cycle power plants in Ontario. Our facilities are located across the province including Napanee, Halton Hills, Toronto, and Windsor. This position will be located at Portlands Energy Centre in Toronto. Location: Portlands Energy Centre, 470 Unwin Ave, Toronto ON (Onsite) / Oakville, Ontario
Internship: 12 - 16 months starting May 2026. Earlier start available if possible.
Compensation: $24.50-$26.50/hour + 3 weeks paid vacation per year.

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Projects & Settlements, the Energy Markets Settlements Intern will be tasked with
Job Description
The essence of the job will be working and collaborating with the Energy Real-Time and the Settlements team.
Creating and improving existing tools that Real-Time and Settlement use to streamline, enhance, and create robust procedures to improve and protect Atura Powers financial performance.
Preparing daily financial result reports and conducting adhoc analysis.
Maintaining safe and responsible work habits and enjoy working in a close-knit team.
Participation in and support of various projects to facilitate commercial operations including spreadsheet and software tool development and performing analysis.
Being a member of a larger team, participating in overall plants safety initiatives and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications – GENERAL
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an engineering, computer science, mathematics or business/finance post-secondary educational program
Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork skills
Expertise with Excel
Experience or interest in electricity and/or gas markets
Proficient with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for data management and reporting and building models and software tools to support commercial activities
Programming, analytical, and proven problem-solving skills (VBA, SQL)
Excellent general computer and technology skills
Experience with Databases preferred
Experience in Power BI preferred
Experience in web development preferred (HTML, CSS and Java Script)
Team Player – enjoy working with a group of people with different personalities
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated
The successful candidate will also gain an understanding of the following skills & expertise:
POWER
Understanding of the Ontario Electricity Market administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), from the perspective of a power generator, including the following aspects:
Market participation through offering, scheduling, and dispatch
IESO market rules
Communication protocols with the IESO
Settlements of IESO market and contract revenues and production
Understanding of the operation of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) type power plants fueled by natural gas
GAS
Understanding of the natural gas market in Ontario, from the perspective of gas fired generators
