Engineering Equipment Operator

Summary

You will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator within Olympic National Park, in the Facility Management/Roads Division. This position operates gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction heavy equipment to grade surfaces to rough specifications on all types of terrain, to include mountains and steep slopes, graded curves and shoulders, hilly forests, rocky ground, and other surfaces with similar rough features. Port Angeles position includes working on winter snow removal crew.

Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: The position operates a variety of engineering equipment such as graders, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, heavy trucks and trailers. Positions operates front end loaders to load trucks, stockpile material, clean ditches and clean up storm damage. Equipment is operated at times in difficult terrain, congested roads and in extreme weather conditions. Remove snow and/or ice from steep mountainous roadways as part of the winter snow-removal crew. Responsible for operating a snowblower, grader, loader, dozer, and snowplow, and required to work weekends and holidays between approximately November and May. (Port Angeles only) Operators are responsible for pre-start inspections of equipment as well as minor repairs and preventative maintenance. Operators are responsible for following safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/05/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
