About Opal Security:

At Opal, we’re building modern identity governance for the AI era—intelligent access management that empowers enterprises to move fast while staying secure. Our mission is to bring clarity, control, and confidence to complex enterprise environments, helping teams govern access without slowing down innovation.

The Role:

Most people seek that 0-1 build experience but the 1-n is a much bigger challenge and we need you to get us to n. We have a team of awesome engineers, we have a product that sells itself, and we are now looking to add an engineering leader to make sure we continue to thread the needle between delivering value, scaling up, and growing our engineers.

What You’ll Do:

This role is all about balancing: balancing priorities, finding the right balance between structure and speed, knowing when to apply a short-term fix versus something more durable, and balancing those unique engineers personalities

This role is all about saying yes: yes to speed, yes to crazy ideas, yes to team bonding, yes to coding one day and helping your IC through heartbreak the next day

This role is also all about saying no: our engineers need to be (appropriately) insulated from the never-ending requests

You Might Be a Fit If You:

You're technical enough to understand the trade-offs of building a scalable platform

You’re an excellent engineer that quickly gains the confidence and technical trust from those around them

You know your team's strengths and how to deploy them against the right problems

You understand that different people need different things to be effective, and you're good at translating organizational noise into useful signal

You actively contribute to company culture

Is this role actually a fit for you?
