Summary

About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

• •Outline or discuss possible problem areas and defines objectives, plans, priorities, and deadlines; and provides assistance on controversial or unusual situations with no clear precedents.
• •Collect and analyze engineering data and makes sound engineering decisions or compromises for the purpose of operating, optimizing, adjusting, correcting, designing, improving, pollution control, and wastewater treatment.
• •Apply a diversified and integrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, and industrial engineering technology, principles, and practices.
• •Perform a variety of work relating to the area of specialization that requires the application of a considerable number of different basic but established methods, procedures, and techniques.
• •Responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, modification, test, and improvement of industrial facilities, equipment, devices, operations, and processes, some problematic and prototypical in nature.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience at the GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing quality assurance inspections on construction projects to ascertain compliance with contract requirements; 2) Developing technical specifications for facility construction projects to support planning and design efforts; 3) Managing installation construction projects by coordinating with stakeholders to resolve project issues; AND 4) Evaluating contractor shop drawings to verify compliance with engineering project requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Specialized Experience at the GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing technical specifications for facility construction projects to support planning and design efforts; 2) Managing installation construction projects by coordinating with stakeholders to resolve project issues; AND 3) Evaluating contractor shop drawings to verify compliance with engineering project requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning facilities construction, maintenance, or repair projects; 2) Identifying factual engineering issues using standard analytical techniques; AND 3) Interpreting basic technical guidelines and manuals to complete engineering tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
