Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-1670-9, Equipment Specialist located in the in Glen Burnie, MD.

Duties

You will serve as an Equipment Specialist and be responsible for ensuring accurate maintenance and configuration records for U.S. Coast Guard assets. Collects, analyzes, and maintains technical equipment data, provides guidance to field personnel, and supports equipment maintenance, repair, and asset management programs. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Maintaining accurate maintenance, configuration, and supply data in Coast Guard Information systems. Providing technical guidance to field personnel on equipment maintenance procedures, scheduling, and compliance requirements. Managing inventory, parts requisitions, material distribution, and supply operations to support equipment readiness. Collecting, analyzing, and maintaining technical documentation and prepares maintenance and supply reports. Assisting in identifying equipment quality deficiencies, investigating defective parts, and recommending corrective actions. Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Maintaining and updating equipment maintenance configuration, and inventory records. Reviewing technical data and maintenance procedures to support equipment operations and repairs. Assisting with material management, inventory control, parts requisitions, and supply tracking. Preparing and analyzing maintenance reports and identifying equipment or component deficiencies. Providing technical assistance to personnel regarding maintenance requirements, equipment readiness, and quality control procedures. Equipment Services Series 1670 Individual Occupational Requirements Education Undergraduate Education: Major study -- any field of study in an accredited college or university. Graduate Education: Major study -- fields related to the position to be filled. or Experience Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment. Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements. Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements. Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met. Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken.
