Equity Research Analyst/Associate - Consumer Finance

Job Description:

The Consumer Finance research team covers approximately 16 companies spanning credit cards (American Express, Capital One, Synchrony), fintech and personal lending (SoFi, OneMain), and mortgages (Rocket). In partnership with the Payments research team, the group provides broad sector exposure, significant learning opportunities, and direct engagement with topics of high investor interest.

The candidate should have a strong desire to learn and be intellectually curious. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The candidate will work closely with the Senior Analyst and broader team to develop investment ideas, conduct industry and company research, build and maintain financial models, author research reports, and engage with investors and management teams. Relevant experience in equity research is preferred.

Responsibilities

• •Perform complex financial modeling & valuation work
• •Write regular industry and company reports and company launch initiations from scratch
• •Participate in IPO-related vetting’s and analyst days
• •Develop databases integral to our research product
• •Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment
• •Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes
• •Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies
• •Participate and contribute to client meetings and events
• •Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders
• •Closely follow and understand market, industry and company specific activity, and relay to analyst when traveling
• •Seek out new, unusual sources of information
• •Leverage our robust network of industry contacts
• •Interact regularly with clients

Qualifications

• •Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
• •A minimum of 1-2 years of experience – sell-side or buy-side (research, investment banking) experience preferred but not required
• •Credit skills is a plus
• •Must be an expert at MS Word and MS Excel/strong modeling skills
• •Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment.
• •Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, international affairs, and policy/politics
• •Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• •Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task
• •Must work well in a collaborative team environment
• •Must have strong intellectual curiosity

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$110,000.00 - $175,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
