Founding Business Development Representative

About Vessel

Vessel is building the future of housing. We combine breakthrough design, advanced manufacturing, and first-principles thinking to tackle one of the world’s most pressing challenges: creating sustainable, attainable housing for all. This isn’t just construction—it’s a complete reimagining of how people live.

Backed by Mosaic Ventures and Lennar , the nation’s largest homebuilder, Vessel is rapidly scaling to meet growing demand. We care deeply about every detail—from beauty and durability to efficiency and accessibility—because we believe everyone deserves a thoughtfully made home.

Role

Sales is one of the best ways to learn how a business works - and as a Founding BDR at Vessel Technologies , you’ll have the opportunity to help build the sales motion from the ground up.

  • Do you want to help define how an early-stage company goes to market?
  • Do you want to move fast , take on more responsibility, and grow alongside the business?
  • Are you fiercely driven , competitive, and excited by the challenge of figuring out what works?

If yes, this could be an incredible role for you.

As a Founding BDR, you’ll work closely with Vessel’s leadership to identify and engage potential customers, while helping us build, test, and refine the outbound motion that will ultimately scale with the company.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply inherit a playbook. We’re looking for someone excited to help create it .

Responsibilities

Build the Motion: Help develop Vessel’s outbound strategy from the ground up - testing messaging, personas, channels, sequences, and approaches to figure out what consistently works.

Generate Pipeline: Identify high-potential accounts and prospects, then engage them through thoughtful, persistent outreach.

Own the Outreach: Craft compelling emails, make high-quality cold calls, and find creative ways to start conversations with our target customers.

Test and Iterate: Treat sales like an experiment. Develop hypotheses, test new approaches, learn quickly from the results, and continuously improve the playbook.

Bring the Market Back to Us: Develop a deep understanding of our prospects, their challenges, and how they think. Share those insights with the broader team to help shape our messaging and positioning.

Work Closely With the Founders: Collaborate directly with Vessel’s founding team and have meaningful input into how we approach go-to-market.

Help Build What Comes Next: As we find repeatability, help document successful processes and lay the groundwork for the BDR team we build around you.

Learn and Grow: Develop a deep understanding of sales, customer acquisition, and go-to-market strategy while taking on increasing responsibility as Vessel grows.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Builder Mentality: You’re energized by ambiguity and excited by the opportunity to figure things out rather than being handed every answer.

Competitive: You have a strong drive to win, improve, and consistently raise the bar.

Curious: You want to understand why something works - or why it doesn’t - and use those learnings to improve.

Highly Adaptable: You’re comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities and strategies can evolve quickly.

Strong Communicator: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade different types of prospects.

Bias for Action: You’re willing to try things, learn quickly, and iterate rather than waiting for a perfect plan.

Team Player: You’re excited to work closely with a small team, share what you’re learning, and contribute beyond the traditional boundaries of a BDR role.

Resilient: You understand that building a new sales motion involves rejection and failed experiments — and you’re comfortable learning from both.

What We Offer

Competitive compensation: $90,000 base salary + $30,000 variable compensation ($120,000 OTE)

The opportunity to be the Founding BDR and have a direct impact on how Vessel builds its go-to-market engine

Significant exposure to Vessel’s leadership team

A fast path to increased ownership and career progression as the company grows

The chance to learn not just how to execute a sales motion, but how to build one

A culture that values experimentation, learning, ownership, and high performance

The opportunity to join early and help shape the culture, processes, and team that come after you

Is this role actually a fit for you?
