The Role

Healthcare is at its greatest inflection point. Systems are adopting technology faster than ever before, and Dart Health is leading that charge on the clinical side.

We're hiring our first Member of Technical Staff in NYC — a founding engineer who will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our founders to scale the platform, shape product direction, and help build the NYC engineering team from the ground up. This is a role with significant leadership scope from day one and a clear path into a Head of Engineering seat as the company grows.

You'll be ~50% hands-on across architecture and code, ~50% partnering with the founders on product, R&D, and team building. If you're early in your career but ready to operate at the level of a founding engineer — or further along and ready to step into more leadership — we want to talk.

What You’ll Own

Build and ship — Spend ~50% of your time as a hands-on contributor: designing architectures, writing code, reviewing PRs, and solving hard technical problems across our stack

Shape the platform — Lead architecture decisions for enterprise-grade healthcare deployments, with meaningful ownership

Partner with the founders — Drive product direction and R&D alongside Veeraj and Aakruti, including our virtual hospital simulation lab, a synthetic patient R&D environment that will change how we test and validate clinical AI

Help build the team — Collaborate with the existing engineering team in São Paulo (6 engineers) and play a key role in recruiting and growing the NYC team as we scale from ~11 to 15–20 this year

Set the bar — Own quality, reliability, and speed in a trust-critical environment where technology reaches clinicians in weeks, not quarters

Grow into leadership — There's a clear path into a Head of Engineering role for the right person as the team scales

What You’ll Bring

4–10 years of engineering experience with deep, hands-on ownership of complex technical systems

Currently spending ~50%+ of your time as a hands-on contributor — you're a builder first

Founding engineer or former founder energy — you've operated with high autonomy, owned ambiguous problems end-to-end, and don't need process to get things done

First-principles thinking and the ability to operate in high-variability, trust-critical environments

Comfortable being in-person 5 days a week in our Chelsea office, with the energy to move fast

Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) experience is a strong plus — the ability to sit at the intersection of customer problems and technical solutions is exactly what this role calls for

No healthcare background required; curiosity about clinical AI and patient impact is what matters

Why Join Now

Direct patient impact — the work you do will affect how care is delivered to hundreds of thousands of people

Founding-team scope — real agency to propose and build new products using customer data, clinicians, and internal R&D infrastructure

The hardest, most interesting problems in applied clinical AI , including building a virtual simulation lab for synthetic patient testing the industry has been working toward for decades

A clear leadership path — this role is designed to grow into a Head of Engineering seat for the right person

A small, high-trust team that moves with urgency and celebrates wins together

Backed by market leaders , including Mayo Clinic, 43.io , and Virtue VC, who trust Dart to build and deploy safe AI across a multitude of use cases

Compensation Band

The starting salary for this role is $250,000 USD , with a range up to $350,000 USD , plus strong pre-seed equity . The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.

Benefits

ICHRA health benefits (best-in-class, flexible)

Flex time off — not tracked, with a culture that trusts you to manage your time

Annual company offsites in unique, off-the-grid locations

Milestone events tied to company wins (go-karts, team outings, and more)

In-person, collaborative culture in a spacious NYC office near Madison Square Garden

Monthly lunch cards (~$500/person)

Customer travel opportunities

About Dart Health

Dart builds novel AI architecture for clinical safety, accuracy, and speed. We are the AI partner for health systems, allowing healthcare providers to run complex clinical cases at scale, safely, and measurably.

Our core engine, HOMER-1, is the first ever Clinical AI Machine. It converts natural language clinical objectives into validated tools, predictive models, and decision logic autonomously, then compounds that knowledge with every task it completes. The result: clinical AI that deploys accurately in a fraction of the time and cost of the industry standard. Unlike companies focused on admin automation or scheduling, Dart helps health systems tackle nearly anything across Cardiology, ASP, Peri-op, Population Health, and more with one unified system, not five point solutions.

We're the market leader in post-acute care, and we're now expanding into acute care. We already work with the Mayo Clinic Platform as a partner and investor, among other leading health systems. Our tools monitor 100,000+ patients every week across hospice, home health, cardiology, cancer, pharmacy, nursing, and more.
