Job Overview

The Associate Creative Director, Design partners with the Group Creative Director to develop and deliver compelling, elevated creative across digital channels. This role leads the visual design and creative execution of websites, digital campaigns, social content, presentations, emails, banner ads, and other integrated marketing materials.

The ACD, Design serves as both a creative leader and hands-on designer, bringing strong art direction, visual storytelling, and design craft to client work. They are responsible for translating brand strategy and complex scientific or technical information into clear, engaging, and visually impactful creative.

This individual should have a strong eye for typography, composition, color, imagery, and brand systems, with the ability to concept and execute across a range of digital formats. They will collaborate closely with copy, strategy, account, project management, and development teams while providing creative direction and mentorship to other designers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the visual design and art direction of digital and integrated creative across client engagements

Develop compelling creative concepts that bring brand strategies and campaign ideas to life

Design and oversee creative for websites, landing pages, digital campaigns, emails, banner ads, social content, presentations, and other marketing materials

Establish and evolve visual identities, design systems, and brand standards

Translate complex scientific, technical, or business information into clear and engaging visual communications

Partner with copywriters and other creative team members to develop cohesive concepts and campaigns

Provide creative direction and constructive feedback to designers, ensuring a high level of craft and consistency

Maintain strong attention to typography, layout, composition, imagery, color, and overall visual storytelling

Ensure creative work aligns with client objectives, brand standards, and regulatory requirements

Present creative concepts, design rationale, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders with confidence and clarity

Collaborate closely with strategy, account, project management, and technology teams throughout the creative process

Partner with developers to ensure the visual integrity and quality of digital work through implementation

Create and maintain scalable design systems, templates, and visual standards across client engagements

Balance creative ambition with project scope, timelines, technical considerations, and client requirements

Mentor and develop designers, helping strengthen their conceptual thinking, design craft, and presentation skills

Manage multiple projects and creative workstreams while maintaining quality and consistency

Stay current on visual design trends, digital creative, emerging technologies, AI-enabled design tools, and industry best practices

Qualifications & Skills

8–10 years of visual design, digital design, art direction, or creative experience within an agency, consultancy, or in-house creative environment

Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design, art direction, digital creative, and brand storytelling

Proven ability to concept and execute sophisticated creative across websites, digital campaigns, social, email, presentations, and other marketing channels

Strong understanding of typography, layout, composition, color, imagery, and visual hierarchy

Experience developing and applying brand identities, visual systems, and design standards

Ability to translate complex business, scientific, or technical information into compelling visual communications

Experience providing creative direction and feedback to designers

Comfortable working collaboratively with copywriters, strategists, developers, account teams, and project managers

Experience working with developers and understanding digital production and implementation considerations

Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite

Strong presentation, communication, and storytelling skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced agency environment

Experience in healthcare, life sciences, biotech, or regulated industries is a plus

As required by law in this state, the estimated hourly rate range for this position is $105–$115/hr and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At CG Life, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program, subject to the rules governing the plan. CG Life offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401K retirement with a generous company match and immediate vesting, and flexible time off.
